Arrest Warrants Issued for Suspects Wanted for Two Separate Newark Aggravated Assaults

Authorities in Newark issued arrest warrants for Mr. Joshua Norwood, 29, and Ms. Edna Fitch, 39, both of Newark, for separate incidents of aggravated assault.

According to officials, police responded to a South Ward residence on a call of an aggravated assault in progress.

Police say they arrived and were informed that Norwood assaulted then pointed a gun at a woman he knows following a quarrel.

Detectives investigating this incident secured a warrant for Norwood’s arrest on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose and simple assault.

Police say in a separate incident, on June 6, 2019, a workman in a building in the 100-block of 1st Street was approached by a woman he does not know with a knife.

The woman raised the knife toward the worker, who fled and was not injured according to police.

Detectives identified Edna Fitch as a suspect and obtained a warrant for her arrest on charges of aggravated assault.

While police are actively searching for Norwood and Fitch, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating these individuals so they can be removed from Newark streets.
