Authorities in Camden County arrested Mr. Ramike Medina-Brown, 23, of Camden, who was wanted in connection with a stabbing that killed his aunt, Eileen Brown, on May 25, with whom he’d been living.
According to a statement released by officials, Camden County Police responded to reports of an unconscious female inside of a residence on the 2800 block of Wayne Avenue in Camden at approximately 8:44 p.m.
Officials say when officers arrived, they located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police charged Ramike Medina-Brown with first-degree Murder on May 27, 2019, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson.
Officials say he was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Hindering Apprehension.
According to Camden County officials, Medina-Brown fled the state soon after the stabbing and was taken into custody today
-Saturday- in New York City by the United States Marshals Taskforce New York Office, just before 12:30 a.m.
He was transported to the 5th Precinct in New York City and is awaiting extradition to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
Officials say, at this hearing, the court may order he be detained or release under Criminal Justice Reform.
The investigation is ongoing.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
