Police checked hospitals in the region for potential victims of a violent shot fired incident that had residents scrambling for cover inside homes as they feared that bullets would come through one of their windows at a housing complex in Newark on Friday night.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out near the Pilgrim Village public housing complex just before 11:35 a.m. sending fast responding Newark Police officers to the scene where they arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred in the vicinity of 159 Avon Avenue, but after a search of the area, there were no victims located.
Police say a grey vehicle, occupied by as many as three suspects, arrived in the area and began to fire at unknown targets then the car sped away from the scene. Authorities believe all of the suspects wore masks during the incident.
The investigation into the incident remains active, ongoing, and the suspects remain at-large.
