Authorities in Newark are on the search for the driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on a busy road in the city then drove away from the scene.
According to police, reports of a female pedestrian struck by a vehicle had officers at the intersection of South Street and McCarter Highway before 11: 50 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene found the badly injured unidentified woman lying on the ground after a vehicle struck them at that location.
Police believe that a sedan -possibly a Toyota- struck the victim then sped from the scene. The vehicle is found to have substantial front end damage and a missing grill.
