Firefighters in Edison battled a two-alarm fire that ignited inside a vacant house during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, fire broke in a home located in the 100 block of Ethel Road at approximately 1 a.m. where firefighters arrived to find the structure fully involved in flames.
Officials at the scene signaled a second alarm as thick smoke and flames forced them to attack the blaze externally according to reports.
Crews were able to knock the fire down in under an hour with a search of the structure coming back negative for trapped or injured occupants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Edison authorities.
