Police located multiple shell casings at the scene of a shooting that injured one person in Newark's Central Ward on Wednesday evening.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the 100 block of Spruce Street at approximately 9:25 p.m. where police arrived at the scene to find a male victim bleeding heavily after a bullet struck him in the arm.
Police officers searching the area located a blood trail that led into an apartment inside a building where a search for injuries did not reveal any additional gunshot victims according to reports.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where his injuries were not reported as life-threatening.
Police canvassing the neighborhood recovered shell casings in several locations which indicated a possible gun battle that erupted in that neighborhood.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation and the suspect remains at-large.
