Police in Elizabeth are on the search for a suspect who is wanted for robbing a business at knifepoint Wednesday morning.
According to a statement released by city spokeswoman Kelly Martins, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a male suspect entered the 7-Eleven establishment on Elmora Avenue and brandished a knife and demanded cash from the cashier.
Spokeswoman Martins said the suspect wore a black mask when he wielded a large serrated knife and robbed the store clerk.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned male - possibly Hispanic- who was last seen wearing a black hat, black sneakers, black hoodie and dark pants.
City spokeswoman Martins said the suspect fled on foot across the street and was last seen near the Crown Bank.
There were no physical injuries reported.
