The driver of a car who reportedly attempted to get away from a shots fired incident caused a collision with an overturned vehicle in the city's West Ward Tuesday night.
According to preliminary reports, several rounds of gunfire erupted in the 700 block of South Orange Avenue at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Police say during the shooting incident, a vehicle attempted to speed from the area but caused a collision near the northbound ramp of The Garden State Parkway at 14th Avenue and Speedway.
The impact of the crash resulted in the vehicle to overturn with one person suffering non-fatal injuries, according to officials.
Police did not confirm if the driver of the vehicle was involved in the shots fired incident or if the motorist was just passing through the area.
Police found shell casings on South Orange Avenue but there were no immediate reports of a person struck by gunfire.
