Authorities in Old Bridge are investigating an early morning crash that killed a man on a highway in the city.
According to a statement released by police, at approximately 3:30 am, a tractor trailer, traveling in the right lane of Rt. 9 northbound at Old Mill Road, was struck in the rear by a white 2017 Nissan Sentra.
Authorities say, after impact, the Nissan Sentra spun across the highway, coming to rest in the left lane of Rt. 9 southbound.
Medical personnel arrived on the scene and the made the pronouncement of the driver of the Nissan Sentra who police said was a 49-year-old man from Jackson, NJ.
Police say statements were taken from the truck driver and witnesses by Det. Tim Snee and no charges are pending at this time.
The accident is under further investigation.
