Registration is still open for the 16th Annual Tour de Elizabeth, a 15 mile recreational bicycle ride around Elizabeth, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th.
The ride begins at 7:30 a.m. and begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. at Elizabeth’s City Hall building. Riders of all skill levels can sign up at www.groundworkelizabeth.org, www.elizabethnj.org, or www.goelizabethnj.com/bike, and can walk up on the day of the event.
For those visiting for the Tour and needing a bicycle, arrangements have been made by the Elizabeth Destination Marketing Organization at unlimitedbiking, www.unlimitedbiking.com/events/tour-de-elizabeth-bike-rentals/.
The first 500 registrants will receive a signature 2019 cap, created by ABG Accessories and a Tour t-shirt. All riders will also be given a free raffle ticket for the post event drawings.
For last minute questions, prospective riders are requested to call 908-289-0262. The ride is supported by many community stakeholders, including Elizabeth’s Mayor Chris Bollwage, the City, Elizabethtown Gas, and the Union County HEART grant program overseen by the County’s Freeholder Board.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit organization Groundwork Elizabeth, whose mission is to build more sustainable communities. The organization works in urban Agriculture, educates about the environment and its urban waters, engages a youth initiative, and assists the community on sustainable practices and careers.
