A Fanwood police officer delivered a baby at a La Grande Avenue home early Thursday morning.
Shortly after midnight, police responded the Fanwood home for a report of a woman experiencing contractions. Upon arrival, Sergeant Mark Gottlick found Sherry Cole, 39, was already crowning, Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo said.
Sergeant Mark Gottlick – a certified EMT – safely delivered Cole's baby, the chief added.
The baby girl was born weighing seven pounds and measuring 19.5 inches long shortly before 2 a.m.
Both, mother and child were taken to Overlook Hospital in Summit and are doing well, police said.
