According to a statement released by police, at 8:30 this morning, police responded to the intersection of Raritan Road and Shop Right Way on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Police officials say, a 71 year old woman was struck by a vehicle exiting the Shoprite.
The victim suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to University hospital in Newark where she succumbed to her injuries according to police.
The driver remained at the scene, called 911 and is cooperating with the police investigation police said.
