Police officials in Newark closed a portion of a busy street in the city as they investigated an incident of shots fired that rang out on Thursday evening.
According to officials, officers responded to a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Clinton Avenue near Martin Luther King Boulevard shortly before 6:15 p.m.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but a search of the area indicated no gunshot victims according to police.
Authorities closed off and detoured a section of Clinton Avenue from Martin Luther King Boulevard to Parkhurst as officers checked for evidence.
Police are looking for a silver or light-colored Honda Accord that was observed fleeing the scene immediately after the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
