Newark – A male suspect, known to law enforcement authorities from previous weapons probes, was arrested this morning outside his home and gun charges were filed against him.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that plainclothes detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics were conducting on-going weapons investigations in the Upper Clinton Hill section of the city at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday when they observed Sabri Ingram, 18, exit his residence and enter a nearby parked 2006 Chrysler sedan.
“Ingram’s vehicle had illegally tinted windows and our officers asked him to produce his driver’s license, registration and insurance card,” Sheriff Fontoura said. “When he reached into the center console for the paperwork our detectives could clearly see a single 9mm bullet in the well of the console. In the backseat of the vehicle a fanny pack was recovered and it was found to contain a 9mm Lorcin semi-automatic handgun and a loaded high capacity magazine.”
Ingram was taken into custody and charged with the unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine.
The suspect was lodged at the county jail where he awaits a bail hearing.
