Police officials in Newark are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured one person during the overnight hours.
According to police, officials at the University Hospital contacted police where a male victim entered the emergency department at approximately 10:30 p.m. suffering a gunshot wound.
Police checked several locations and believed the victim suffered their injury during a shots fired incident that occurred before the victim's arrival at the hospital.
Authorities believe that the victim was shot on 7th Avenue
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been released at this time.
Police are looking into the motive behind the shooting.
