There is an active investigation underway as police conducted their search for suspects who held up a gas station on a busy Newark road on Thursday night.
According to preliminary reports, Newark Police officers were notified of an armed robbery in progress that occurred at the Exxon Gas Station located at 3rd Avenue and McCarter Highway before midnight.
Units arrived at the scene were told by employees that an unidentified male suspect arrived at the gas station and robbed the establishment before fleeing from the scene.
It is not clear how much proceeds the suspects took at this time an no physical injuries reported.
