Armed Suspects Occupying Car Fires Shots at Person on Dirt Bike in Newark's South Ward

A violent running gun battle that had suspects inside of a moving vehicle lean from the windows with a gun and began to fire aimlessly at a person on a dirt bike in the city's South Ward this afternoon.

It happened just before school let out in the 800 block of South 14th Street where a grey vehicle, occupied by a male and female, began to fire continuously at a male driving a dirt bike.

Police say the operator of the bike lost control and crashed through a fence of a home, allowing the driver to jumped up and sprint away on foot.

According to police, an unidentified person observed the dirt bike on the ground then sped away on Madison Avenue.

Police recovered shell casings and other evidence for several blocks from 14th the 18th streets.

There were no injuries reported.
