Newark airport passenger tried to carry two loaded guns through a security checkpoint
According to police the suspect who was only said to be a Kentucky resident had two loaded guns in his carry-on bag when agents stopped him at a Newark Liberty International Airport security checkpoint on Wednesday.
Police placed the man under arrest then charged him with multiple weapons offenses, according to officials.
TSA authorities say they found a .38-caliber revolver loaded with six bullets and a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun loaded with 12 rounds at the Terminal C checkpoint. Both firearms had a bullet in the chamber official said in a statement.
“It is a disturbing trend that TSA officials would prefer to see go in the opposite direction,” a TSA spokeswoman said in a news release announcing the most recent arrest.
