Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announce that at approximately 6:39 p.m. on Tuesday police and fire personnel responded to 650 East 26th Street, in the City of Paterson, in response to a three alarm fire at a two family residence at that location.
Officials say the structure suffered severe damage, and one man was located inside of the home, deceased.
Police identified the victim as 76-year-old Russel Mahan, of Paterson and no other injuries were reported.
An investigation was commenced by the Paterson Police Department, the Paterson Fire Department, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
