Newark Police officials have announced the death of a longtime detective who handled some of the city's homicide caseloads until he retired.
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said in a statement that he extends his deepest condolences to the family of retired Homicide Detective Jack Eustey, 78, who passed away yesterday.
"I lost a friend and mentor," Director Ambrose said. "Jack was and will always be remembered as a great person. I salute you, my friend."
