The use of a space heater is being blamed for a fire that damaged a home in Harrison on Sunday morning.
According to a statement released by Harrison Police officials, police and firefighters responded to a 911 call of a working house fire in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at 8 a.m.
Emergency responders arrived and immediately met with the homeowner who confirmed everyone in the house was safely outside according to police officials.
Officials say residents of an adjoining building were evacuated out of precaution while Kearny Firefighters assisted Harrison swiftly beat down flames from the fast morning fire.
The back of the structure absorbed most of the damage, causing the family to be displaced according to police officials.
There were no reported injuries.
