NJ State Police Employees Sport Denim for Sexual Violence Awareness Month

New Jersey

On Wednesday, several civilian employees at Division Headquarters wore denim in support of Sexual Violence Awareness Month according to NJ State Police officials.

Officials say Denim Day is internationally acknowledged during April when everyone is invited to wear denim as a way to support the victims of sexual assault and help raise awareness.

Sexual violence can happen to anyone regardless of employment or educational level, race or ethnic background, religion, marital status, physical ability, age or sexual orientation according to a press release submitted by NJ State Police.

Officials say sexual violence not only affects those who are abused but also has a substantial effect on family members, friends, co-workers, other witnesses, and the community at large.
