UPDATE: Oakhurst Alleged Easter Sunday Shooting Suspect Surrenders

FREEHOLD – An Ocean Township man has been charged with Attempted Murder and weapons offenses after firing multiple shots on Easter Sunday, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Monmouth officials say, Mr. Tanner Koch, 26, of Oakhurst, is charged with one count of first degree Attempted Murder, one count of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and one count of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Police charged Koch on Monday following an investigation that began on early Sunday evening.

According to authorities, at approximately 5:07 p.m. the Ocean Township Police Department responded to a 911 call at 330 Elberon Avenue in Oakhurst for shots fired.

Officers made contact with the victim who made the 911 call officials said.

The investigation determined that after a dispute with the victim, Koch fired several rounds at the victim’s vehicle and at the victim as he ran away. Koch turned himself into Ocean Township Police Department on Monday evening.

Koch remains detained at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
