Newark Public High School Track Athlete Commits to Division 1 Rider University Brocs

A Newark Public high school track athlete has made her choice to remain in New Jersey by taking her track and field talent to the Division 1 -athletic status- Rider University of Lawrenceville.

In the Thursday, 1:35 p.m., ceremony at The Nation's First school of the visual and performing arts school -Arts High School Newark- dance major student Ms. Nashauna Johnson, 17, signed a letter of intent in front of about 50 people that included her family, Arts High School's Principal Mr. Ricardo Pedro, members of the media, students and staff.

Johnson, a four-year track athlete from Shabazz High School gave love and credit to her guidance counselor Ms. Smallwood, Coach Mr. Damon Harrison, and all of her teammates who have supported her during her high school track career.

The Rider Broncs are the athletic teams of Rider University, a private, nonsectarian university in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, United States. The school is a Division I member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and its athletes compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
