A 66-year-old driver accused of striking a pedestrian as he attempted to flee from car crash has been charged.
According to authorities, yesterday shortly before 3 p.m., Hoboken Police Officers responded to the area of 1st and Bloomfield streets in Hoboken for a report of a motor vehicle accident.
Arriving officers learned that the black Honda Accord involved, fled the scene and then struck a pedestrian in the area of 1st and Hudson streets.
Police arrested and charged the driver of the Honda Accord, later identified as Oscar Moran, 66, of Jersey City, with second-degree Assault by Auto and third-degree Assault by Auto and Driving While Intoxicated.
Officials say the pedestrian, a 56-year-old Brooklyn man, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he is being treated for multiple injuries to his lower extremities.
The driver of a vehicle involved in the initial collision on 1st and Bloomfield streets, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Hoboken Police Department.
