A person was rushed to an area hospital this afternoon with serious injuries after a driver fleeing the scene of a crash struck them.
According to authorities, Hoboken police were called to a scene of a crash near 1st and Bloomfield streets sometime around 3 p.m.
Officials say that the person drove at least two blocks on the sidewalk in attempts of fleeing before striking the pedestrian near 1st and Hudson streets. The driver then crashed into an apartment building on Hudson Street.
When police arrived, the driver was still in the car.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The incident is under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Crash Team.
