Police in Newark’s upper West Ward conducted a shot fired investigation this afternoon after a gunman fired multiple rounds on the street in that section of the city.
According to authorities, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 218 Brookdale Avenue just before 1 p.m. sending officers to the scene where they located several shell casings.
Witnesses said about three suspects entered two separate cars and sped from the scene eastbound on 18th Avenue.
There were no injuries immediately reported.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
