A kitchen fire at a Toms River apartment complex left as many as fourteen displaced residents Thursday evening fire officials said.
According to authorities, firefighters responded to the Jamestown Apartments at approximately 10 p.m. for a report of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire that ultimately destroyed two units, while six others suffered smoke damage.
Officials say the fire was caused by unattended cooking oil in a pan that ignited.
According to authorities, one occupant suffered second-degree burns on the hand. No other injuries were reported.
