Police officials in Newark are looking into the motive behind a stabbing that left a woman injured on a street in the city's South Ward on Thursday.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the firehouse located on Bergen and Lyons Avenue when a female victim entered seeking help after suffering a stab injury at an unknown location just before 6:35 p.m.
Fire officials contacted police while they provided assistance to the woman. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where she is expected to survive her injuries according to preliminary reports.
According to reports, one person was detained by police and is being questioned for the attack, but it is not clear if an arrest was made.
The incident remains under investigation.
