Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief James J. Craparotta of the Jamesburg Police Department announced that a man from Monroe has been arrested on charges of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of three minor children, and lewdness.
Police on Tuesday arrested and charged Lyle P. Gabriel, 39, of Monroe, with three counts of sexual assault in the second degree, three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree, and three counts of lewdness in the fourth degree.
An investigation is being conducted by Sergeant Jason Muller of the Jamesburg Police Department and Detective Julissa Alvarado of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation has determined that on April 2nd at approximately 3 p.m., near Buckelew Avenue and Lake Street, Gabriel exposed and touched himself in front of three minors, under the age of 13, who were on their way home from school. The children alerted police in the area who apprehended the suspect.
The defendant is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center pending a Detention Hearing.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Muller at (732) 521-0011, or Detective Alvarado at (732) 745-3711.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Gabriel are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
