Police in Newark are looking into an attack on two people that occurred in the city's Ironbound section this afternoon.
According to a statement released by police, shortly after 2:30 p.m. today, officers responded to Freeman Street near Fleming Avenue on a call of an assault.
Police officials said responding officers located two male victims suffering head injuries at that location. Officials say officers also discovered a hammer suspected as the weapon used in the assault.
EMS transported both victims to University Hospital where doctors treated one of the victims who was left in critical condition while the other victim was in guarded condition.
This incident is under investigation and there were no arrests reported.
