A fight that erupted between two men on an Elizabeth street ended with one of the men suffering a stab injury on Sunday morning.
According to a statement released by Elizabeth City Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, the incident happened at approximately 6:19am when a 29-year-old Newark resident exited his vehicle on 5th Street and was approached by an unidentified male.
Spokeswoman Martins said heated words ultimately escalated into a fistfight between the two men.
Police say after the altercation, the Newark man went into a house in the area and realized that he suffered a stab wound to leg.
Police say the victim was taken to Trinitas Hospital where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.
According to Spokeswoman Martins, the victim could not describe the suspect to police.
