A Saturday evening stabbing that occurred in The Town of Harrison sent a teenaged adult male to the hospital now has police investigating.
According to a public information request that was answered by police officials in Harrison, the incident happened at approximately 6 p.m., where Harrison Police responded to a report of a person stabbed in the 400 block of Davis Street.
Officials said in the statement that officers arrived to find an 18-year-old male suffering a stab wound to his abdomen not far from the location of the original call which was reportedly on Paterson Street.
Police say the victim claimed that he was stabbed without provocation by an unknown male shortly before officers arrived.
EMS rushed the victim to the hospital where doctors began surgery for the man's injury.
Police officials said a further investigation concluded that the victim was engaged in an attempted robbery that more than one suspect was involved.
Police say additional suspects have been identified but, at this time, no charges have been filed. It is not immediately clear if the victim is a resident of Harrison at this time.
City officials urge residents to report suspicious activities and individuals in their neighborhoods -early and often- to police as they continue to step up police patrol and surveillance around Harrison.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
