Newark Charter School Joins Newark Businesses to Assist The Less Fortunate

Newark

A team of high school students teamed up with several local Newark businesses to assist some of the city's less fortunate on March 16th.

The endeavor entitled "Help The Homeless Project" had several students from the Great Oaks Legacy Charter High School give toiletries to dozens of the city's less fortunate and also to a homeless shelter in Newark according to organizers.

One of several organizers, student Mr. Nayvon Terry said, over the past 12 weeks, several students from Greater Oaks Legacy Charter School visited local Newark Downtown area businesses and requested their partnership to execute the project.

Organizers said they received great support from Courtyard Mariott, Hotel Indigo, Robert Treat Hotel, and Whole Foods.

"They have been a big help on getting us the things that were needed," students Nayvon Terry said.

Terry said Hotel Indigo gave about $3,000 worth of linen to give out to the less fortunate at Newark's YMCA where the project was centered around.

Organizers and school officials want to thank all of the businesses and everyone involved in "Help The Homeless Project."
