Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire that ignited inside a business in Elizabeth Tuesday evening.
According to preliminary reports, heavy fire erupted at an auto shop located in the 1000 block of East Grand Street before 9 p.m.
Area residents reported an explosion coming from the commercial structure, but fire officials have not confirmed the accounts as of early Wednesday morning.
There were no injuries immediately reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
