Police officials in Newark are attempting to determine if shots fired incidents that occurred nearly simultaneously on Saturday afternoon in the city's West and South Wards are connected.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 785 South Orange Avenue -Cedar Avenue- at approximately 4:30 p.m. sending police officer to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers located about a half dozen shell casings on the ground, but after police searched the area, there were no victims found according to reports.
In another incident that occurred just before 4:30 p.m. gunmen arrived in the vicinity of Godwin and Renner avenues and began to fire shots at an unknown target according to preliminary reports.
Police searched the area injuries, but there were no reports of victims according to reports.
The motive for both shootings remain under investigation.
