A set of shootings that occurred at two separate locations in Newark are under investigation by the police department.
In the first incident, Newark Police officials say shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, an armed suspect arrived at the vicinity of Avon and Shanley avenues where he began to fire shots at a man.
Police officials said the victim -who managed to dodge the bullets- was not injured and the suspect fled the scene.
In the remaining incident, Newark South Ward Police officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Seymour and West Runyon just before 6:15 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a brief search of the area, there were no victims located.
Gunmen fled the scene after firing shots at unknown targets according to police. Officers canvassing the area located several shell casings police said.
