Police officials in Newark are looking into whether two people found dead inside a house in Newark on Tuesday were the result of overdoses.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to 434 South 18th Street early Monday after they received reports of a medical call.
Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive adult female who medical personnel ultimately pronounced dead a short time later.
Police say they also found an adult male dead on Tuesday inside the same house sometime during their investigation.
Residents in the neighborhood told RLS Metro morning crew that there has been a rise of 'unexplained' unreported deaths in that portion of the city since January. Police officials have not confirmed residents' claims.
Police are not reporting foul play, and the Essex County Prosecutor's have not released reports of an investigation as of Wednesday morning.
