The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded an investigation this week with the seizure of more than $100,000 in cocaine, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
Onofri stated that his office received information earlier this month from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service regarding multiple packages being delivered to a residence on Emmett Avenue in Trenton from Torrance, California. Authorities identified a package en route containing approximately three and a half pounds of cocaine, valued at more than $100,000, and federal and state search warrants were obtained.
According to authorities, on Feb. 25th, the package was delivered to the residence on Emmett Avenue. Officers observed the suspect, Demar Davis, approach the mail carrier and provide proof that the package belonged to him. After Davis took the package and entered his vehicle, police moved in and took him into custody.
Police charged Davis, 30, of Trenton, with first-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute. He is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center pending a detention hearing.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
