There is an active investigation underway into a pedestrian strike that killed a person on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River on Wednesday morning.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 81.7 after they received reports of an injured person on the highway.
Police and rescue crews arrived at the scene and found a severely injured unidentified person lying in the roadway according to reports.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene according to reports.
NJ State Police temporarily closed several lanes for the crash investigation.
