Emergency responders attempted to revive an unidentified person who reportedly overdosed on heroin while operating a vehicle in Paterson early Thursday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the intersection of East 18th Street and 10th Avenue after receiving reports of an unconscious and unresponsive person inside a running car just before 12:45 a.m.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the vehicle with the victim inside then provided CPR in an attempt to revive the patient.
According to reports, police found heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital a short time later.
No one else was injured in the incident according to reports.
