Police in Newark are on the search for a man who robbed a bank in the city's South Ward Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, police were called to the City National Bank that's located in the 1000 block of Bergen Street to investigate reports of a robbery that occurred at approximately 3 p.m.
Upon officer's arrival, they began a search for a 5’8” black male, who had a beard, mustache, and wore a blue hoodie when he passed a note to a teller demanding proceeds from the bank according to preliminary reports.
Officials say, the suspect did not show the teller a weapon but implied through the note that he was armed.
It is not clear how much proceeds the suspect took before he ran from the scene according to officials.
