Firefighters in newark made fast work out of extinguishing a fire that ignited a car in Newark's South Ward on Sunday evening.
According to officials, firefighters were called to the vicinity of 14 Seymour Avenue when residents dialed 911 after they observed flames coming from a parked van.
Newark firefighters arrived at the scene and found the fully involved fire and began to extinguish the blaze according to officials.
Once fighters knocked down the fire, they searched the van for injured occupants which came back negative.
Seymour Avenue residents said that they observed fluids coming from the van that they believed was gas. The fire was started after someone mistakenly disposed a lit cigarette near the vehicle according to residents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
