North Brunswick authorities are looking into an unusual incident where a vehicle operating in autopilot left the roadway and damaged several poles in the city on Sunday evening.
According to police, there were no injuries reported when a Tesla vehicle, that was in autopilot, apparently malfunctioned then left the roadway at around 6:40 p.m. and crashed into several poles on US-1.
Police arrived at the scene to find deep tire marks on the grassy median where the out of control vehicle struck poles causing damage to the car.
The passenger inside the vehicle was able to gain control of the car before it was able to crash into any cars during the incident according to reports.
The incident remains under investigation.
