Bloomfield Man Accused of Showing Explicit Images to a Minor

Bloomfield Passaic

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces the arrest of Miguel Medina, 53, of Bloomfield

Officials say Medina was originally charged on October 9, 2018 with one count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault and three counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor after an investigation conducted by the Special Victims Unit of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

It is alleged that Medina sexually assaulted and showed explicit images of minors to a female minor when she was between the ages of five and seven years-old from 2005 through 2007 in the city of Passaic. It is further alleged that as the investigation was beginning, Medina traveled to Puerto Rico, where he was recently located with the assistance of officers from the Department of Homeland Security in the Newark and Puerto Rico offices. Police arrested Medina in Puerto Rico and thereafter, was returned to New Jersey on Wednesday.

Authorities say Aggravated Sexual Assault carries a maximum term of twenty years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence to be served before parole and Endangering the Welfare of a Child carries a maximum term of ten years in New Jersey State Prison. Each of these crimes also carry the imposition of Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life.

Miguel Medina is scheduled for a detention hearing before the Hon. Donna Gallucio, J.S.C. at 9 a.m. on Feb. 11th in Courtroom 523 of the New Courthouse, 77 Hamilton Street, Paterson.
