Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances behind a child found wandering alone on a street in Newark.
The Thursday evening incident happened in the South Ward neighborhood of Dewey Street -the 100 block- where residents notified police when they observed an unattended female child who appeared and misplaced.
EMS arrived at the scene and checked the child for any obvious injuries which were negative while Newark Police conducted the investigation according to reports.
The child was reportedly reconnected with her parent a short time later.
