A driver from Bloomfield was issued several summonses after the vehicle that he drove collided with a police car in Elizabeth.
Officials say police responded to Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash Tuesday.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the officer was traveling east on Elizabeth Avenue when the other vehicle allegedly went through the light on Spring Street and struck the officer.
Police ultimately issued the driver four summons; having window tints, failure to inspect, careless driving and running the red light officials said.
The incident remains under investigation. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
