The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are actively looking into a shooting that involved a police officer in Passaic that sent one person to the hospital during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at around midnight in the vicinity of Myrtle Avenue and Harrison Street where police encountered the suspect and opened fire for an unspecified reason but a gun was found at the scene.
Police say a second suspect fled the scene and remains at-large.
Authorities would only confirm that one person was injured during the encounter and said the events that led up to the shooting is under investigation.
The victim was transported to the hospital where doctors began treating their injury.
