The 51-year-old comedian, Artie Lange is back at Essex County Jail after testing positive for cocaine for the second time in less than two months.
Officials say Lange was due to report to state Superior Court in Newark, for a drug court test after he tested positive just weeks ago in violation of his probation.
According to Lange’s attorney, Frank Arleo, the court could remand Lange to jail. If that is the case, he could be there through at least
Feb. 6, when his case is due to be reevaluated, Arleo added.
Back in December 2017, Lange pled guilty to possession of 81 decks of heroin. The plea agreement called for a probationary term but was also supposed to include drug treatment.
Judge Sivilli placed him on probation for four years, ordered him into outpatient drug treatment, mandatory drug screening, imposed fines and required him to perform 50 hours of community service.
If he failed to live up to the terms of the probation, he could be incarcerated for five years.
