Authorities in Newark are investigating a South Ward stabbing incident that sent a man to the hospital overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 88 Tillinghast to investigate reports of an injured person at approximately 1:20 a.m.
Upon officer's arrival, police found a heavily bleeding man suffering a stab wound to the chest at that location.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated the man's injury according to reports. Police are not reporting this incident as a fatality.
Firefighters were called to the scene to washdown blood on the sidewalk.
No arrests have been made.
